If you’ve been at the beach lately, you may have noticed the water looking a little on the brownish side, especially in Pinellas County. It’s nothing out of the ordinary according to the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission. The St. Augustine Alligator Farm Zoological Park has been searching for two endangered Galapagos tortoises since they were stolen in December. They were found this week at the home of Joshua McCarty-Thomas in St Petersburg, and unfortunately one was found dead in a freezer. His wife, Dashae McCarty-Thomas, has also been arrested and charged. Police also found rare books and comic books that were also allegedly stolen. The tortoise that was found has already been returned to the farm in St Augustine.
